Fire Safety

The Broken Arrow Fire Department is awesome! They came to talk about fire safety, show us their uniforms and the firetruck. They reminded us that if they ever come into our house to help us, we don't need to be afraid or hide!

Nurse Jeanne was another visitor we had this week. She taught us how to Stop, Drop, and Roll. She also told us that if there is smoke in the room, we need to "Stay Low and Go!"

We did a couple of fun art projects too! Hand print firemen and our own fire pictures, using our hands as paint brushes, remind us to "Get Out and Stay Out!"

The Wheels on the Bus

Thanks to our good friends at Bishop Kelley High School, we were able to sing, "The Wheels on the Bus" on an actual bus! We sang, walked around the bus, listened to the horn, watched the doors open and close, and asked the bus driver so many great questions. Thanks again for the fun treat, BK! Check the All Saints Catholic School Facebook page for the video of our song!

"Look, Look, Look!"

This morning, one student spotted a bird flying above the playground. He wanted all of his friends to see it too. A group watched and followed the bird around the playground.
Then the guessing started. Many students hoped it was an eagle. We love being outside! We are not just playing- we are learning too!

Weather

We did an experiment with shaving cream, water, and food coloring. We filled a vase with clouds (shaving cream) and precipitation (blue food coloring) and discussed what we thought would happen. It rained!

Our experiment turned into another experiment. One student wondered what would happen to the blue "rain" if we added another color. Soon we began adding more food coloring to the vase and watching the colors change!

We used the shaving cream for another activity that day. We practiced writing our letters and names on the desks.

We talked about wind moving all around us. We made windsocks and tested them out!

Dr. Seuss

We recently spent time celebrating Dr. Seuss. We did a few activities based on one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books, The Cat in the Hat. We made hats using Oreos, Lifesavers and frosting. We also made Thing 1 and Thing 2 using handprints.

Prayers for Vocations

Last week was Catholic Schools Week. I asked each student what they want to be or do when they grow up. We attached their responses to balloons and released them, along with the rest of the All Saints students.
